Will the Italian government start construction on the Strait of Messina Bridge before the end of 2026?

The Strait of Messina Bridge has been a long-standing infrastructure proposal aimed at connecting mainland Italy (Calabria) to the island of Sicily. While several governments have discussed and even advanced the project over the years, it has never moved past the planning stage.
